Interview With: Paul Misko

GreenlandLive.net asks: Describe your artist/band/duo/group. How did you come together?

I joined the band almost 2 years ago when the former guitarist left. We had been friends for years and started playing together when I was in my former band Robinson. We were all from the same area and started playing our first shows out of town and learning how to get our bands off the ground. Before my time in the band, they had been a band since almost 1999, with member changes here and there until all all the right people were part of it. The usual way a band comes together.

GreenlandLive.net asks: How did you come to be known as From A Second Story Window?

The name doesn't have a specific meaning. It's kind of neutral which is what we all like. I believe Rob came up with it when he was reading a book and saw it in a line and liked the way it sounded.

GreenlandLive.net asks: Who and what are your influences?

Music-wise - Deftones, Pink Floyd, Slipknot, Glassjaw, Brand New, Poison The Well.
Other Stuff - beer, pot, whiskey, cigarettes, taco bell, chipotle, outback, money, short drives, vitamin water, and WINGS!!!!!

GreenlandLive.net asks: How would you describe your audience?

What audience? Haha. We'd like to think we have a little bit of everyone that likes to come see us. We don't want to focus on only drawing certain people. We wrote this new album 'Conversations' for ourselves without holding anything back and just doing what we liked. And thats why I think it will appeal to more than just a hardcore or metal crowd. We don't want to be stereo-typed to one 'scene' or 'style.'

GreenlandLive.net asks: What are your goals as a group?

Simple. Play music. Enjoy life. and don't take things too seriously. Be real and be yourself.

GreenlandLive.net asks: What drives your music?

Anything and everything that makes you have a feeling. Random thoughts when you are laying in bed that run through your head or driving or whatever. We don't try to fabricate a sound. We try to just let it come out how it feels. A lot of parts and songs we write happen on just jamming with each other and feeling where the song should go.

GreenlandLive.net asks: What message/s are you delivering to the world?

Pretty much what I said in our goals. We aren't a preaching band and we don't really have a 'message.' If you like us, great come out to a show. If not. I dont care.

GreenlandLive.net asks: What does your latest album portray?

It portrays us growing and maturing as musicians and people. We wrote this totally to please ourselves and not worry about what anyone else thought. If it comes out and does well excellent. If not, we're happy to say we did that and proud to have it. Some people will criticize us and say we are less heavy and added too much singing. Whatever, we didn't write it to please you, and you should take a look at our influences. That would explain everything.

GreenlandLive.net asks: Describe a defining moment for your band.

I cant speak for the entire band because they are not here. But for me a defining moment was our second time in Europe on the Hell on Earth Tour with Walls of Jericho, Born From Pain, All Shall Perish, Fear My Thoughts, and Freya. It was our first time on a tour of that size and it just felt great to be there. We had our first tour bus which we never thought we'd get to have. We were treated great by everyone over there and had the experience of a life time. Not to mention making great friends with everyone on the tour and playing to crowds of more people than we ever saw before. It's something i know none of us will ever forget and we would love to do it again.
