Theory Hazit is an emcee, producer and dj Cincinnati, OH. At first Theory Hazit started beat boxing for his cousin, over time he taught himself how to freestyle and began looping beats and breaks onto cassette tapes. Theory Hazit real name is Thearthur Washington and friends call him Theo... “One day I noticed 'theory' on my friend's textbook and then it hit me! Theory! So, I went by 'Theory' for a while. In the mist of choosing a name I recognized a gang of emcees and band with 'Theories.' I later added 'Hazit' to separate myself from all the look-a-likes.”
Theory Hazit is influenced by Jesus, J Dilla, Light Headed, OHNO, Henry Mancini, Hubert Laws, Martin Denny, the ARE, Hi-Tek, Tribe Called Quest, The Roots, Red man, Pigeon John, Madlib and Cream Of Beats. His audiences consist of smart and open-minded individuals; his audience loves the creativity in his music from radio heads to underground supporters. Theory Hazit goal is to share the word of God and help bring variety to a balance to this world! Passion and hunger drives Theory’s music; he’s always in the lab doing something. “If you see me in the street, at the store, at church..... Wherever, I'll be rockin' some headphones working on something.” The best part of touring for Theory is eating because of the different cultures and territories he gets to visit. He also likes traveling with artists that he admires and just being able to travel for him is a privilege. “It's a privilege to hop from plane to plane to rental car to rock a show.”
“Lord Fire” Theory Hazit latest album reflects the mid 90's hip hop sound, it’s very sample heavy, soulful and the lyrics are delivered with all sorts of styles which helps getting messages through to the listeners.
Theory Hazit is a true artist and businessman because while he has time to kill on the road he makes beats. “I make beats; I will hook up the adapter in the car and plug up the sampler! I will find an electric outlet somewhere!” Theory Hazit pre-show routine is, “I will walk around with headphones and my mp3player going over my lyrics and beats for my set. Then I’ll sound check the mics. Finally, he mingles and meets people... ya know, hang out with the crowd and then go backstage.” Theory Hazit is currently rotating Slum Village’s Fantastic, Vol. 2 and Caton Jones’ Kingdom Business through his IPod. He has toured with artists like LightHeaded,Charlie 2NA and Galactic is probably the favorite. The atmosphere at one of his shows can be described as all ages, peaceful, energetic, and fun-filled!
Theory Hazit would like to tour or share the stage with The Roots, KRS ONE,and/or Linkin Park. There are three bands that GreenlandLive.net readers and the world should be on the look foraccording to Theory Hazit, “this ill band called Walk The Moon. People should also check for Ill Poetic and LD & Ariano (TechniCALI).” His defining moments come when his fans area this shows just having fun and getting down, “when people in the crowd wild out when they recognize the movie or t.v. show sample in the beats, having fun, carrying on about..... Staring at me/moving closer to the stage like 'hey... this guy is actually good' *lol*”
