![]() GREENLANDLIVE.NET - WOULD LIKE TO INTRODUCE SXY TO THE WORLD! SXY Seattle, WA www.myspace.com/sxymusic Written By: The Realist from Greenland Live.net and Shanine from S.X.Y. Greenlandlive.net asks, Describe your artist/band/duo/group. How did you come together? It's always hard to describe your sound, but I'd have to say it's more on the side of Rock/pop/electronica. My brother and I have been collaborating on music for over a decade together and decided to form SXY a little over 2 years ago. It's definitely been a rough process of trying to put together a solid lineup for this project. But in the end, we're pretty happy with Max and Jeremy, they're both pretty talented and hella dedicated, not to mention they've got a great attitude! I met Jeremy through my room mate Steven, and I met Max at Shoreline Community College in Sue Ennis's song writing class. As for my brother and I, hehe. we've kinda been like each others butt cheeks for the last 25 years. Greenlandlive.net asks, How did you come to be known as SXY? Me and my bro have always been in bands together since we we're kids. In the long run we came to realize most musicians are pretty flaky, every time we lost a member in the past, the band would just fall apart and we'd have to re-name our projects and start from scratch all over again, so we decided to call this project SXY and focus more on me. Greenlandlive.net asks, Who and what are your influences? Our main influences are music/movies. When it comes to music thats def. a tuffy, to be honest, it's all over the board, everything from Madonna, Muse, Fiona Apple, No Doubt, Bjork, Aphex Twin, The Crystal Method, Nirvana, Frank Sinatra, Even the cartoon Jem! We also get very inspired after we get Bubble Tea, Taco Bell or see a pretty bad ass live show! Greenlandlive.net asks, How would you describe your audience? I would say our music is actually pretty diverse, It's everything from Hip Hop oriented beats to Opera parts to Pop/Rock/electronica. I think we reach a pretty broad audience, i would like to think anyone who can appreciate a good tune. Greenlandlive.net asks, What are your goals as a group? To kick ass! reach out and touch as many people as possible, share amazing experiences and continue to grow as a band/performers and musicians. Greenlandlive.net asks, What drives your music? Probably the need to constantly create. We all have the hunger to make music, it's something we need, something we always crave. Kinda like breathing, the moment you stop, is the moment you die. Greenlandlive.net asks, What message/s are you delivering to the world? People should never be afraid to express themselves whether it be through fashion, art, music whatever suits you. whatever it is that moves you;never stop. It's all about being true to yourself, cause you can never satisfy the world so start with yourself. Greenlandlive.net asks, What does your latest album portray? Strength,The last couple of years have been a weird cycle and a huge change. I feel we've become stronger musicians, people, and performers. We've gone through serious relationships and come out stronger because of it.I think this album portrays loosing yourself in relationships sometimes and becoming vulnerable to the people you love. It was also the first time we collaborated together and ditched the band idea. We've done alot of growing/ fighting on this record and in the end came out respecting one another more then we did in the beginning. It's not always easy working with your siblings. But I'd never take it back for the world. It's been two of the best years of my life! Greenlandlive.net asks, What roles do each member of the band act out/play? My bro and I wrote this last record together in his home studio. He plays anything and everything he can get his hands on, the guy is just naturally talented. As for me, I play bass, guitar, keys and do vocals. When we play out; Max-Bass Jeremy-drums Kid Diskonektid (my bro) guitar/programming SXY (me) Vocals Greenlandlive.net asks, Describe a defining moment for your band. Performing together during our music video shoot for the song 'Look a little Deeper' There was a crew of 26 people spread out on the set for two days, we felt pretty bad ass and really fortunate to work with so many talented people. |
