GreenlandLive.net asks, Describe your band/duo/group. How did you come together?

Well, collectively my group is made up of myself, Q.T.; the singer, producer and writer of the group, and J Dot who is the rapper and writer in the group. J Dot and I have known each other for many years; ever since we were little kids. We actually grew up in the church together and eventually created a quartet called “4 for Christ.” That group consisted of Me, James Spivey, Sam Williams and Travis Sewell. After awhile, we all separated due to location changes. Now that J Dot and I are back in proximity, we have been making music separately and jointly for the past few years. We have great chemistry in the studio and on stage, and with new additions to our band, live performances will only get better!

GreenlandLive.net asks, How did you come to be known as Q.T?

I’ve been called Q.T. ever since middle school. One day, someone realized how catchy my initials were and put them together. I can’t seem to remember who thought of it but I really liked it, so I stuck with it.

GreenlandLive.net asks, Who and what are your influences?

Of course I try to be creative as possible and come up with new innovative subject matters to sing about that are typical to find in R&B music, so number one; my own experiences are what influence my song writing and production. Another strong influence is feeding off the energy from J Dot while brainstorming ideas about a song. Lastly, major artist such as Usher, Tank, and Chris Brown are people that I look up to because they inspire me to be something great in the music industry.

GreenlandLive.net asks, How would you describe your audience?

Right now, I would say that my audience is made up of a variety of people from all over the world. The people who get to hear me live are usually my fellow students at Eastern Washington University and the surrounding area. People from all types of cultural and racial backgrounds have expressed their appreciation for my music; that’s why music is so important to me. I see how it touches the hearts and souls of people who listen and it makes me want to do it more and on a larger scale. I cannot forget about my Myspace fans who dedicate a little time out of their day to check out and listen to my music. They are definitely appreciated!

GreenlandLive.net asks, What are your goals as a group?

I believe that our goal as a group is to give the world something they don’t get to hear too often by groups already in the industry. Our style is different and versatile. My vocals and musical arrangements mixed with creative flows and the home hitting content of J Dot will bring something to the music business that it has never heard before. Someday, we do wish to make it big and get our music out to a larger audience. Until then, we are taking baby steps before we start flying.

GreenlandLive.net asks, What drives your music?

Simply put; EVERYTHING!

GreenlandLive.net asks, What message/s are you delivering to the world?

There’s nothing new under the sun. What you go through in life, whether it be things that happen in your relationship with a girlfriend/boyfriend or friends and family in general, we will sing and rap about it. Sometimes people feel alone when they are going through something, but as soon as they pop in a QT and J Dot joint, there’s a sense of companionship and rapport hearing that someone else has gone through the same thing and giving them strength to carry on. Also, we make ‘feel good music.’ If you want something that simply, makes you feel good, then that’s what our music does as well. As I said, we are versatile in what we do and how we do it.

GreenlandLive.net asks, What does your latest album portray?

The difference between my first album, “I Wanna Be ur Man,” and my latest album, “Serenade,” is that my latest album highlights my growth as a writer, producer and singer. The first album established that I could actually sing, write and produce my own music, but this second album shows that I can only get better. The newest album gives the listeners new life situations that I have been through and stories of others as I’ve matured into a man. It portrays my life as a college student and everything that comes along with being human.

GreenlandLive.net asks, What roles do each member of the band act out/play? I am the producer, singer, and writer of the group. J Dot is the rapper and song writer of the group. It is fun to also switch roles from time to time to show our versatility. We are now working on putting together a live band. Right now, Clarence J. is our lead guitarist, Taylor is our drummer and I am the current keyboard player.

GreenlandLive.net asks, Describe a defining moment for your band.

The first few times that J Dot and I got into the studio to create music we created hits! Every song since then, has been a potential single, or a hit on any album. The first time we performed live together, the crowd participation was crazy and the audience loved us. Over the past few years we have come to find out that we are what the industry is missing. We just need someone to notice us, and someday our dreams will come true.
