Kawnar doesn't really know how music came into his life, for as long as he can remember he has loved music; every genre captured his ear. When he turned 14 he started making music, as in learning piano, that helped him make beats and learn other insturments.  Kawnar later picked up a guitar and all his hard work learning piano and creating beats translated straight into the guitar.  Kawnar now works on his music all alone, writing music for all the insturment and writing music for all the vocals.  Do we have a future Prince on our hands?

Kawnar's legal name is Connor and he has always loved his name, until recently it was a semi unique name.  When he started making music he didn't want to go by an alias, so he thought of 'Kawnar' which is pronounced the same way yet spelled completely different. It's been a gift and a curse, as it gets people talking yet his name mispronounced regularly.  Kawnar is influenced by artists such as, Jamiroquai, Gorillaz, Sneaker Pimps, Acceptance, Thicke, Andre 3000, Maria Mena and many other artists, but the funny thing about Kawnar as an artist is he really doesn't listen to alot of hip-hop or rap.

Kawnar doesn't have the normal 'hip hop crowd' he tends to have people who normally don't like hip-hop gravitate toward his music. As Kawnar puts its, 'It's nice breaking people into a genre, it makes you feel like your making a difference.'  As an artist Kawnar would like to get as big as possible, maybe make about 3 or 4 platinum selling records and then quit. Kawnar still want to do music but he doesn't want to be a star, he just wants to produce for others.

Kawnar's life experiences influence and drive the music he makes as he told us in our interview, 'having other people honestly tell you that your music effected them. That always inspires me.'  Kawnar music delivers a message to the world of speaking out about whatever is on my mind; he's not out to end world hunger or lower gas prices (although that would rock he says), he's just out to tell the world whatever is on his mind.

Kawnar's latest album 'Unclear' was an introduction to the nation and the world, the sole purpose for the album is getting people interested in his music. The next album is going to change the way Hip-Hop is looked at; the album is not about material things, it deals with real life stories and is done in a way that even hardcore musicians will respect.

Kawnar does all the recording by himself, but he does have a instrumental band for live perfomance. His guitarist/bassist is named Ira Burton, Ira is known for thinking up the coolest music ideas ever. 'He will just throw something out that I have never heard of and it just works, its very hard to explain.'  The drummers name is Pete he does amazing work, he listens to the track and always adds energy during live shows!  The highlight of Kawnar's career so far has been being nominated as the Best New Artist at the Oklahoma Music Awards, he says 'I'm glad that I can get enough notice to be nominated for such an Award!'
