We all know that throughout life we will have our ups and downs, during the down times The Explorers Club newest CD ‘Freedom Wind’ is lyrical genius mixed with great musicianship to create musical therapy for a broken heart or a heart that needs to be loved.   The Explorers Club is a six piece psychedelic, sunshine rock and roll band from Charleston, S.C. the guys met in one way or another while attending college at Charleston Southern University.  The Wes Anderson film “The Life Aquatic” is where The Explorers Club got their name from, according to Stefan, 'We got our name from a sign on a wall in the Wes Anderson film 'The Life Aquatic.'

The Explores Club draws a lot of their influence from the canon of pop and rock and roll music from the1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. The Beach Boys, the Beatles, the Zombies, the Association, the Byrds, Harry Nilsson, and Motown are just a few of the bands who have contributed to the great musical experience you have when listening to The Explores Club. There music is like going on a musical ride back in time, but also going on a musical ride into the future by the way they combine their lyrics, and melodies with smooth harmonies.   According to Stefan and The Explorers Club here are a few bands the world should know about,  'Some of the newer bands that we all like are:  Camera Obscura, Belle & Sebastian, Dr.Dog, the Clientele, the Tyde, the Thrills, the Apples in Stereo, and Wilco.'

The Explorers Club audience is mostly college aged kids, but most middle-aged people who hear them like them; they just don't come to shows as often as students.  'We like to see our audience dance to our music at shows, but it really depends on the crowd, each group is unique and different.'  Their main goal is to get to a point in their careers where they can do music for a living and not have to try to a find a different job in between tours.  They would also want to gain a large following everywhere, 'hopefully we get as many people to hear us--through shows and our recordings--as possible!' The Explorers Club is mostly a guitar driven band, and they try to emphasize melodies, but the bass and drums really give their music its drive;  their fans are also what drive them to write and perform,  “What keeps us going is seeing people enjoying our music as we're playing it.”

According to Stefen The Explorers Club musical message to the world is, 'we're trying to put out a positive and sunny message through our music and songs, and we encourage people to have fun and enjoy themselves at our tour shows.”  Their latest album 'Freedom Wind's' seems to portray loneliness, self-doubt, isolation, daydreaming, unrealistic innocence, wishful thinking, and trying to make the best of life ups and downs while having a good time with it. It's a little contradictory in some ways, but so are a lot of things in this world.  Stefan let GreenlandLive.net know there have been a few moments that have define The Explorers Club thus far in their careers, “Our first review from Pitchfork was pretty cool. They liked us.  SXSW 2007 was important because that's where our label found us. And more recently, our album just came out! And the same week Freedom Wind came out we were featured on the myspace music page, which helped us gain fans and got us a ton of plays, one my favorites though, was when we got to open for the Zombies in 2006. That ruled because we love the Zombies.”
