![]() GREENLANDLIVE.NET - Would Like To Introduce The World To Colour Revolt! Colour Revolt Oxford, Mississippi http://www.myspace.com/colourrevolt Interview with: Patrick Addison Written By: The Realist from GreenlandLive.net Colour Revolt formed about 3 years ago while attending college at the University of Mississippi in Oxford, MS. The members of Colour Revolt have all known each other and played in other bands growing up, so when they all finally came together the band just made sense. The name Colour Revolt comes from Edwin Abbott's 19th century social commentary, 'Flatland'; This is why they kept color spelled with the U. The members of Colour Revolt are influenced by artists/bands like Deerhoof,Tom Waits, Neutral Milk Hotel, Bob Dylan, Fugazi, Barry Hannah, William Faulkner and many other artists/bands. They also believe their surroundings in Oxford have been a huge influence on the music they create as a band. Colour Revolt's audience varies, 'We have played with so many different bands and so many different type people that it is hard to know a specific demographic; I will say Southerners and Canadians tend to get us and understand us alittle more than other places.' The members of Colour Revolt have simple goals for their music careers they would like to continue creating music their band and fans enjoy listening to, they would also like to be able to pay their rent each month. Colour Revolt are true musicians in Greenlandlive.net opinion because they still believe creating music is fun, 'Its fun, we love playing whether its in front of a 1000 people or 10people. Some of the shows where we have not had a large turn out have been our favorite shows to play.' Colour Revolt's latest album 'Plunder, Beg, and Curse,' is a portrayal of the struggle of life, girls, and God mixed with a southern sound; Colour Revolt prides themselves on delivering to the world the sounds of the south. Colour Revolt members all contribute in different ways such as, 'Writing, we are all very active and opinionated about writing our music. Len does a lot of our artwork, Jimmy does a lot of writing for biographies, and we all do interviews and such; we all contribute in whatever way we can because we are all in this together.' Colour Revolt's defining moment so far as a band is after having everything stolen in Dallas over a year ago; 'We can't believe how amazing people are still today because of the amount of help we received. That was a growing experience like no other.' The Realist and GreenlandLive.net would like to Thank Patrick Addison and Colour Revolt for taking their time to do an interview with us.
