How did you come together? (A) I'veplayed in many bands over the years. After the last one broke up, I gotmore and more into home recording, after about a year and a half ofexperimenting with techniques/sounds/pop structures, I wound up withBABIES DREAM BIG. GreenlandLive.net: How did you come to be known as Alan Wilkis? (A) My ma and pa gave it to me. GreenlandLive.net: Who and what are your influences? (A) Myinfluences are EXTREMELY varied, but for this album, mostly stuff fromthe 70s and 80s: Prince, Stevie Wonder, Boston, The Doobie Bros, Hall& Oates, Kraftwerk, yadda yadda yadda... GreenlandLive.net: How would you describe your audience? (A) My parents GreenlandLive.net: What are your goals as a group? (A) My goals is to one day have a group. GreenlandLive.net: What drives your music? (A) Happiness, fun, love, harmony, and synthesizers. GreenlandLive.net: What message/s are you delivering to the world? (A) My big message is that you can love a lot of things and be influenced bythem, and that in doing so, that's how you start to figure out who youare. (A) My latest album portrays lots and lots of love and smiles, a tiny bit of heartbreak, and girls riding bicycles GreenlandLive.net: What roles do each member of the band act out/play? Iplayed just about everything on the album - guitar, keys/synths,vocals, drums/percussion, computer, programming,engineering/producing/mixing/mastering Had some very talentedspecial guests on 3 tracks: Jason Treuting (drums on 'I Love the Way'and 'It's Been Great') and Eric Biondo (Trumpets on 'I Wanna Know') GreenlandLive.net: Describe a defining moment for your band. Adefining moment for me was about 2 years, started investing in morehome recording gear/software - made a conscious effort to get better atrecording - really was the catalyst for making BDB. |
